Zendesk bills per seat. Reponse bills no seat at all

Zendesk is the reference for large support organisations: skills-based routing, granular permissions, a huge ecosystem. Reponse gives Shopify brands the helpdesk, unlimited human live chat and seats without billing them, with the Ambassador agent selling from day one: a 14-day trial up to 500 AI tasks, then $0.05 per AI task.

Why leave Zendesk?

Your team's work never billed, every AI agent at work from day one.

Your team's work is never billed

Tickets, shared inbox, unlimited human live chat, reviews, loyalty and referrals: no licence to negotiate and no meter on your team.

Unlimited seats

A Black Friday reinforcement or a new hire does not change your bill. Zendesk charges every agent between $19 and $115 a month.

AI by the task, not per resolution

Every AI agent works during a 14-day trial, up to 500 AI tasks at no charge, then each AI task costs $0.05, with no resolution allowance to top up by the block.

Live in 5 minutes, no project

Connect your Shopify store and the widget is live: catalog, orders and customers synced, with no integrator and no rollout phase.

With Zendesk

On Zendesk, web messaging and the AI Agent that answers the visitor's question start with the Suite Team plan at $55 per agent per month (billed annually): the $19 Support Team plan is email and ticketing only, so the question becomes a ticket. Each AI Agent answer counted as a successful automated resolution is drawn from a resolution allowance and then billed on usage, at a per-resolution price and included volume that are not shown on the pricing page.

With Reponse

The customer writes in the widget and the Ambassador agent asks two questions about the person's tastes, searches the Shopify catalog and puts the gift set in the cart before handing off to Shopify checkout. A member of your team can take over from the shared inbox, with no per-seat fee.

Human chat never billed, AI by the task

A fair pricing model

No seat and no human ticket to pay for: only the AI's work, by the task. See the difference with Zendesk.

FAQ

Reponse or Zendesk, in plain terms

How does Reponse pricing compare with Zendesk pricing?

Zendesk bills per agent seat, from $19 per agent/month on Support Team to $115 on Suite Professional when paid yearly, with add-ons such as Copilot at $50 per agent/month and AI usage counted in automated resolutions. Reponse charges no seats. Reponse is one plan at $0 a month, with unlimited human live chat and seats and every AI agent. A 14-day trial covers up to 500 AI tasks at no charge; then each AI task costs $0.05, from the first one, on your Shopify invoice and within the budget you set. The practical difference: adding a seasonal agent for Black Friday changes your Zendesk bill, not your Reponse bill.

What happens to my Zendesk history if I move to Reponse?

Zendesk's bulk export of tickets, users and organizations (JSON, CSV or XML) is available on Suite Growth, Professional and Enterprise and on Support Professional and Enterprise, while Team plans go through the REST API instead. Reponse has no Zendesk importer: past tickets stay in Zendesk, customers and orders come from Shopify as soon as the app is installed, and the AI agent reads your store's policies and published pages by itself instead of your macros. Plan an overlap period: Reponse takes the store chat, then your support email once you forward the address into Tickets, while Zendesk stays read-only for the archive.

What does Reponse not replace from Zendesk?

The phone.

Zendesk includes telephony and an IVR phone tree in its Suite plans and sells a Contact Center add-on at $83 per agent/month, whereas Reponse covers store chat and the support emails you forward into Tickets, not voice calls. Zendesk also addresses internal employee service (IT, HR) and workforce management through its Workforce Engagement bundle, two areas Reponse does not cover. If your support runs on the phone, or you serve internal employees as well as customers, Zendesk is the better tool.

Who should choose Reponse over Zendesk, and the other way round?

Zendesk fits companies where support is a department of its own.

Skills-based routing, granular agent permissions, a sandbox to test workflows before shipping them, and a broad ecosystem of apps and integrations built up across many industries. Reponse fits a Shopify brand where the same conversation sells and supports: catalog and orders synced live, an AI agent that sells on the store and a Support agent that triages tickets and drafts replies for the team, with human handover, plus reviews, loyalty and referrals in the same tool. In short, a large support organisation to industrialise points to Zendesk, and a Shopify store that wants selling and customer service in one Shopify-native suite points to Reponse.
